How to play Shadow Director
You are a club’s sporting director. Here is what you do, from your first minute to your first season.
The goal
You sign players and manage the squad, the coach, the budget and the board’s trust. Your renown climbs from assistant director up to president. If the board’s trust hits 0% you are fired. If your stress hits 100% you burn out.
Time
- The Continue button moves time forward. It stops by itself on an event: a match, an important message, the end of the month.
- The transfer window opens in July, August and January. The last day triggers urgent messages from agents.
- Working at night costs stress.
Messages
This is the heart of the game. The coach, the chairman, the press, agents, staff, fans and sponsors write to you. Each message offers several replies, and many let you write your own: the tone of your reply (friendly, neutral, aggressive) changes the reaction. You cannot handle everything: what you ignore has a price.
Transfers
A list of players is offered each window. You contact the agent, negotiate and sell at the right moment. Rumours and leaks circulate in the press.
Matches
You can follow a match live, with stats and an event ticker, and text the coach. Or you simulate the match at once. The league has 20 clubs and 38 matchdays, with a national cup, promotion and relegation.
Your staff and academy
Eight staff roles (assistant, fitness coach, doctor, scout, goalkeeper coach, video analyst, physio, youth coach) write to you and improve, or leave. Every 1 July, new youngsters arrive at the academy.
