Shadow Director does not try to copy a tactics game. It offers something else: playing the sporting director.
What is different
In a game like Football Manager, you mostly run the team: line-ups, tactics, training, matchday. In Shadow Director you sit on the other side of the desk: the chairman asks for results, the coach wants a striker, an agent offers a player, the press asks a trick question.
So the game is played mostly through messages and decisions, with very few tactical diagrams. Matches are simulated, or played live with a few instructions to the coach.
